When Sergei Korolev designed Russia’s orbital rocket, Sputnik 1, he worried about gravity, dynamics, and the physics of outer space.

When he launched Sputnik 2, he worried about Laika the Space Dog's journey. Laika was a stray dog. She was the first living mammal to be launched into space.

He never worried that his design might start an international lighting trend! After the launch of the Sputnik, new lighting inspired by the atomic age hit the scene.

And he certainly never entertained the idea that Jonathan Adler might take the Sputnik lighting trend and add a healthy dose of Liberace.
